Please write in your reading diary
when you have read. You will have been allocated a Bug Club book to read at
home, which will be different to the one that you are reading in school. Check
with your teacher if you are not sure which one is which. Don’t forget to
answer the ‘bugs’- look out for them on each page! Please don’t “close” the
book until all the bugs have been answered.
Maths (20mins):
Our topic this week is shape. Maths
work will be posted on Mathletics. If you have any problems accessing this
work, please speak to the teacher for a paper copy. Please also practise your
times tables and associated division facts (e.g. 7x6=42, 6x7=42 42 ÷7=6,
42÷6=7)
Literacy:
This week we have been looking at
play scripts. We would like you to take one section of a film or television
programme. While you watch it, make notes about a conversation between two or
more characters (dialogue) and how they speak and move (stage directions). We
would then like you to turn your notes into a short section of a play script.
Please add your play script to the class blog.
For example, here is a script for a
section of Toy Story.
The rubber shark pops up wearing Woody's cowboy hat.
SHARK: Look, I'm Woody. Howdy, howdy,
howdy!
WOODY: (sarcastic) Ah-hah!
Ah-hah-hah! (grabs the hat). Give me
that! (Woody leaps out of the toy box)
BUZZ: Say there, Lizard and Stretchy
Dog. Let me show you something. It looks as though I've been accepted into your
culture.
(Woody looks up to see Buzz chatting with Rex and Slinky)
BUZZ: (continued) Your Chief, Andy,
inscribed his name on me.
(Buzz puts his foot out so that Slinky and Rex can see the sole of his
boot. The name "ANDY" is written on it in permanent marker).
SLINKY & REX: Wow!
Spellings (20mins):
These should be practised for a short
time each day, using the words given in sentences.
You need to:
• look at each word
• say the word
• copy the word in first space
• cover the words and try to write it
from memory
• check to see if they are right
This week we are turning nouns into
verbs by adding tion. Look to see how the root word changes when tion is added.
Make sure you understand which word is the noun and which is the verb.
